Elyssebeth is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Technology, Sydney. She teaches and researches the design and use of simulations and games as learning tools and processes in academic and workplace contexts. Specific applications include teamwork, project and change management, and organisational development.

She values taking action to learn. Her doctoral thesis used the term “PractitionerResearcher” to capture the indivisible nature of practice and action especially in complex, uncertain contexts subject to unexpected change. She contributes to international programs on simulations and games for learning including the 2006 Summer School www.isaga-summerschool.org to be held in Austria. One aspect of her research concerns developing simulations for use in training for crisis and emergency situations.

Elyssebeth is General Secretary of International Simulations And Gaming Association (ISAGA) and was a Design Team member for two Global Forums of the Society for Organisational Learning (SoL). She has published papers on project management, simulations and games, experiential learning and knowledge management.

Her books are

  • Learning Through Fun and Games (1999) Leigh & Kinder, McGraw Hill
  • Fun, and Games for Workplace Learning (2001) Leigh & Kinder, McGraw Hill
